How do Grade 12 Maths Literacy exams work?

Grade 12 Maths Literacy exams are structured into two papers, designed to comprehensively assess the students’ grasp of the curriculum:

Paper 1:

Duration: 3 hours
Total Marks: 150
Content Distribution:
Finance: Approximately 60% (±5%). This section includes questions on income, expenditure, profit and loss, budgets, cost price, and selling price.
Data Handling: About 35% (±5%). It assesses skills in handling data, including applications of measures of spread as outlined in the CAPS (e.g., growth charts on page 65).
Probability: Around 5%. This section tests basic probability concepts.

Paper 2:

Duration: 3 hours
Total Marks: 150
Content Distribution:
Maps, Plans, and Other Representations of the Physical World: About 40% (±5%). This part tests the ability to interpret and create maps, plans, and other spatial representations.
Measurement: Approximately 55% (±5%). This section covers various measurement topics including dimensions, volume, temperature, and their applications.
Probability: Around 5%. Focuses on probability in contexts directly linked to Measurement and Maps and Plans, reflecting real-world applications.
